THE RENAISSANCE FOUNDATION
RENAISSANCE CULTURAL ARTS CENTER
ART INSTALLATION CEREMONY
On May 16, 2006 the Renaissance Foundation unveiled works of art created by college students representing colleges and universities throughout the Midlands; Benedict College, Columbia College, Claflin University and the University of South Carolina.
The artwork was in the form of murals created to temporarily replace the stained glass windows at historic Bethel in downtown Columbia.
The replacement artwork will be displayed at historic Bethel until it is fully transformed into a cultural arts center.
This artistic centerpiece was created for all to enjoy during the restoration process, explained Renaissance Foundation Executive Director Mary Skinner Jones.
Once the facility is completely restored, it will house a museum and a 500-600 seat performing arts venue in the heart of downtown, she adds.
