SONS OF ALLEN VOLUNTEER MENTORING PROGRAM (PROJECT SAVE A CHILD) INITIATIVE
The Sons of Allen Project Save A Child (SAC) is an arm of the Renaissance Foundation and a very successful mentoring group.
The motto of this award winning program is “Raise Up a Child the Way he should go and when he is grown he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).
The Sons of Allen are involved in the Public School System, teaching Junior Achievement programs to elementary, middle and high school students.
In addition to public education they work with the Department of Juvenile Justice in the areas of mentoring, tutoring, father figure, bible study, youth choir, and worship leader.
Their Mentor/ Tutoring Program is designed for the community; participants in this program are given the assistance needed to be successful in the community through job shadowing, job fairs and education.
The Sons of Allen established a prison ministry at the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Utilizing biblical principles and keeping the mission in the forefront, they have changed the lives of many youthful offenders.
In November 2001 the Sons of Allen partnered with the Carolina Panther Football team and Operations Blessings team and distributed 2000 bags of food to people living in depressed communities.
Additional partnerships include: USC, Community in Schools, Junior Achievement, Disabilities in Action Center, United Way in the Midlands, Boys and Girls Club, Campbell Soup Company, 100 Black Men of S.C. and the Department of Juvenile Justice.
The Sons of Allen have received numerous awards for their service, such as the Governor’s Award 2001, United Way of the Midlands Community Builder Award and nominated for the group of the year, Junior Achievement Award, Disability in Action Award and the Department of Juvenile Justice Award.
